The nation's 2nd largest fly-in, air show, and industry tradeshow, SUN 'n FUN, at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport is fast approaching and Florida Wing Civil Air Patrol is a major source of aviation aware volunteers. Volunteering is a great way for our members to get their aviation fix close to home, meet new CAP members from around the Wing, and refresh or expand your training. With 5,000 aircraft, 40,000 aircraft movements, 160,000 visitors, 500 exhibitors, and 450 seminars, there's plenty to see and do.

While SUN 'n FUN runs April 13-18, CAP's major volunteer involvement and activities start 9 April and conclude 19 April. During that time every CAP skill from Emergency Services to aerospace education and recruiting will be needed to make CAP presence the huge success it always is.

Emergency Services is a large part of CAP tasking at SUN 'n FUN, and an opportunity to participate in one of the largest multi-day missions in the nation. Every ICS/ES qualification and position is needed, so sign up now to volunteer for the position or training of your choice by emailing the following information about yourself to SunNFun2010@flwg.us

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 58,000 members nationwide. CAP, in its Air Force auxiliary role, performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 72 lives in fiscal year 2009. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counter-drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the more than 23,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for 68 years.
