Marco Island Squadron Members Recognized For Service

Marco Island, Fla. -- Two Florida Wing staff officers journeyed from Wing Headquarters, located in the Miami area, to present awards to several Marco Island Civil Air Patrol (CAP) members for outstanding performance during a recent Homeland Security Support mission. Making the award presentations were Lt. Col. Charles Clement and Lt. Col. Brent Cox.

Homeland Security Support missions are periodically assigned to CAP Florida Wing and its supporting squadrons. These multi-day missions involve activities in support of various facets of homeland security. Additionally, these missions include implementation of newly introduced Incident Management Utility (IMU) software designed to increase the efficiency of all participating organizations in Search & Rescue and Disaster Relief, as well as Homeland Security,

The Marco Islands members honored for their professionalism and dedicated service essential to mission success included Lt. Gale Vinson, Capt. James V. Picone, Capt. Cindy Dohm, Major Jim Carrender, and Lt. Col. Lee Henderson.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 57,000 members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 90 lives in fiscal year 2008.
